'Shigure zome' Autumn Rain in the Garden Japanese Maple

'Shigure zome' leafs out as a bright cherry red, fading to a bronze red. Fall color on 'Shigure zome' turns to a bright orange to red. 'Shigure zome' may reach 10-12 ft in height in 15 years. 'Shigure zome' is a Japanese selection that dates back as far as 1719 in Japanese literature. It has also been known under the name 'Shigure zono' which means "autumn rain in the garden". 'Shigure zome' is rarely found in cultivation. This 'Shigure zome' was grafted from a tree that was imported in from Kobayash Momiji En in Japan in 1976.
