'Shigure zome' is a Japanese selection that dates back as far as 1719 in Japanese literature. It has also been known under the name 'Shigure zono' which means "autumn rain in the garden". 'Shigure zome' is rarely found in cultivation. This 'Shigure zome' was grafted from a tree that was imported in from Kobayash Momiji En in Japan in 1976.
